[JOY] “Solo Play Permission” Granted by the Absolute Ruler (My Wife)
Let’s get straight to the point. I was in absolute heaven.
Why? Because the absolute ruler of our house—my wife—granted me a miraculous permission: “You can go out and play by yourself for a bit.” There’s no way I’m wasting a platinum ticket like this.
I grabbed my S2000 key at the speed of light and headed to my usual drive course, Yahagi Dam, letting the VTEC scream all the way.
The wind was calm, and the weather was simply perfect that day.
There were plenty of cool sports cars on the road, and just passing by them hyped me up to the max. Lots of bikers were out too, exchanging the classic biker wave, filling the whole route with a supreme “feel-good” vibe.
Give it a little more time in the season, and driving top-down means getting scorched by the blazing sun until you’re roasted like a Thanksgiving turkey. That’s exactly why an open-top drive right now, in this season, is the absolute best. It’s perfection.
I’ve put a video at the end, and this time it covers the route shown below. Honestly, in an S2000, you’re just shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear on this road, so it’s not the most thrilling action footage.
But actually driving it yourself is incredibly refreshing. Whenever I come to Yahagi Dam, I always run this section. It feels amazing.
■ Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom and the Yellow S2000
On the way, there was a spot where the cherry blossoms were still blooming beautifully, so I just had to stop and take a commemorative shot.

Weeping cherry blossoms in full bloom and my yellow S2000. No words are needed. It’s the perfect contrast.
I’ve always believed the S2000 looks its absolute best from the side profile. I’ve owned this car for over 20 years, and that feeling hasn’t changed one bit.
■ [WARNING] Crucial Notice Before Watching the Video
I took a driving video again this time, so I’m tossing it in here.
I set up the mic to properly capture the exhaust note, so some people might find it “a bit loud.” But hey, that’s the sound played by Honda’s masterpiece. Soak it in.
However, there is one CRUCIAL WARNING before you watch this video.
Whenever I turn left, the side profile of an old man (me) keeps popping up in the corner of the screen.
Do not mind it.
Listen to me. I will say it again. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT MIND IT.
I can’t be bothered with the hassle of editing a mosaic over my face every single time. Just treat my face as part of the scenery and ignore it. Also, just so we’re clear, this is definitely not a video of me aggressively attacking the mountain pass, so don’t expect that.
By the way, I messed up the video quality settings on my last upload and it looked like garbage. This time, I made sure you can watch it in glorious 4K.
